Kik is an app that allows you to connect with your friends and send them messages, photos, videos or chats. Kik messenger also allows you to video chat. One of the amazing features is that if you are a developer, Kik provides open source tools to help you create great experiences in your applications.
Like other similar apps like Messenger or Whats app, you can also create groups. You can join as many groups as you like, and each group can have an unlimited number of users. One of the features of this app is that it has no ads. Like Facebook, Kik Messenger also has an integrated web browser so you can open web links without leaving the app.
Kik offers a simple interface and an easy registration process that requires no phone number. The only downside is the small video screen and no hashtags (available now!). Kik isn’t just a messaging app. More than that. Kik is the easiest way to find new friends and connect with others. Continue to listen to exciting stories and explore all of this via the internet and chat. No phone number required. All you have to do is choose a unique username of your choice.
Features
Some features of this app are:
- Users can chat with people one-on-one or in random groups.
- Now share photos, videos, GIF and games with Kik.
- Explore and meet new people who share interests.
The messenger app has about 300 million registered users and is used by 40% of American teens. The main reason the Kik app is so popular is that there is no phone number requirement. If you use your username instead of your phone number, we do not automatically share your personal information with others. Chat friends on Kik can only see your display name, username, and profile picture.
Chat friends on Kik can only see your display name, username, and profile picture. They won’t be able to see your email address, phone number or date of birth, but within your Kik group everyone can see your username. Kik allows users to message friends anything from photos and videos to GIF and emojis.
Other Kik features
- Users can see whenever their chat partner types a message in real time. Users can see when a sent message has been read by the recipient, even if the recipient has not yet replied or started typing.
- When you send and receive messages, you get notifications when messages are sent and delivered. You can also customise the notification sound and choose to receive it immediately.
- Invite people you know via SMS text, email, or social networks like Facebook and Twitter. When a friend signs up with a phone number or email that’s already stored on your phone, Kik will recognise you as a friend and send you a notification to connect.
- Every user has a code that can be accessed in Settings. To add a user from your Kik code, tap the search icon, then tap Find People, then tap Scan Kik Code. Kik needs camera access to scan and add other users’ Kik codes.
- You are not limited to sending text messages with Kik. You can send photos, GIF, videos, sketches, emoticons, and more.
- Kik gives you the ability to have real-time video chats with your friends.
- Chat customisation is easy. You can choose any colour you want for your speech bubble.
- You can start a group chat by tapping the search icon, tapping Start a group, and then adding people to the group.
- Choose whether you want Kik to access your address book and match contacts. You can also block users from contacting you.
