In terms of size, Instagram Lite is very small compared to Instagram’s native app. You can filter and post photos to your feed or stories, view stories, and browse the explore page.

It’s not as lightweight as the previous Instagram Lite app at only 573 KB, but the latest version stays light in terms of app size. The size of the app was 4 MB excluding app data and cache.

Instagram Lite is best for people who still have older phones with less storage space. This lite version is perfect for slow network connections with limited data.

Users may not need to delete Photos or other apps to install Instagram’s original app. But with the lite version, all obstacles are removed. You can easily follow all celebrities, stars and trends with this little version of Instagram.

Layout and Interface

The layout of Instagram lite is almost identical to the original app. The Home, Search, Post, Like and Profile buttons are at the bottom. Double-tap a post to see Likes.

New users are confused by this feature and a single tap plays or opens a post. Also, using the smaller version will use less internet data, so you can save all around. Just log in with your Instagram profile.

This lite version of the Instagram app lets you edit photos and videos and upload them as posts or stories. Besides that, you can use different filters, find your friends’ stories and more.

Instagram Lite retains the same interface for viewing stories on the home page. Previously, the app limited story uploads to images, but the latest update comes with the option to upload videos.

You can record and post a video by long-pressing the camera button in the Story interface. You can also select existing images and videos from your gallery by tapping the file picker.

One welcome change in the new Instagram Lite is the availability of direct messaging. The option to access the DM section is in the top right corner of the app, just like in main Instagram. However, there are no swipe controls and you have to tap manually.
